Codeup and the Edwards Aquifer Authority, will give you the chance to team up and tackle big data challenges pertinent to our community, society and families.

Calling all developers, designers, and dreamers! It's time for a 2-day celebration of code and brainpower, otherwise known as the Big Data Code-a-thon!

This weekend competition, brought to you by the folks at Codeup and the Edwards Aquifer Authority, will give you the chance to team up and tackle big data challenges pertinent to our community, society and families. Oh, and did we mention that there will be $5,000 in cash prizes??!

All participants must be registered on Eventbrite in order to attend. Don't wait - registration will be capped at 50 spots! Parents must accompany participants under the age of 18.Participants are welcome to bring any open-source code that they've developed in the past that might be helpful in solving the challenges. Meals and snacks provided!

The EAA will provide the following data sets:

   -Water Quality Data

   -Rain Gauge Data

   -Weather Station Data

   -Historical Data

(The week before the event, registered participants will receive an email with more detailed information on the data sets.)

 

Potential Challenges:

Create a mobile or web application to help permit holders track monthly water use, especially during times of drought management

Create a mobile or web application to let users know when they have physically entered into the Recharge Zone of the Edwards Aquifer system

Create a fun & educational mobile or web application

 

Prize Breakdown:

1st place: $3,000 + 3 months of Geekdom membership (free)

2nd place: $1,000

3rd place: $500

Honorable mention (x2): $250

*All participants will receive 1/2 off Geekdom membership for 3 months*
